Life Care of The Willows therapist now stroke rehab specialist

Erwin Escobar, a physical therapist at Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, recently became a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS™) through the National Stroke Association.

Escobar has been a physical therapist at the facility since 2008 and has practiced as a physical therapist for 19 years.

Life Care Center of The Willows resident hosts weekly radio show

Tune in to WVLP 98.3 FM in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Tuesday mornings from 11 a.m. – noon, and you will hear Michael Austin, a resident at Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso. 

Austin is the host of “Earworm Soup,” a show on the community radio station that features different genres of music, focusing on a different year for each show. His debut on Aug. 11, 2015, featured hits from 1985.

Life Care Center of The Willows participates in Popcorn Festival Parade

On Sept. 10, 2016, associates from Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, Indiana, participated in Valparaiso’s 38th Annual Popcorn Festival.

The facility constructed a float for the parade along the theme “We Are Family,” decorated with a picnic motif, including a picnic table, corn on the cob, a grill and a popcorn machine.

Life Care Center of The Willows celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, Indiana, celebrated its residents during Nursing Home Week, May 9-13, with a Disney Day on Wednesday.

Residents participated in Disney-themed games such as a cake walk, a frog toss and a chance to shoot a ball through the wicked witch’s mirror from the movie “Snow White.” Snow White and Mickey Mouse were also invited to play games and take pictures with the residents.

Life Care Center of The Willows helps bedridden man walk again

Roy Nicholson was hospitalized for almost a month due to complex medical conditions.

Nicholson was bedridden with a wound and a colostomy bag. He was admitted to Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, Indiana, on May 23, 2016, for physical and occupational therapies, as well as wound care.
