Life Care Center of The Willows [in Valparaiso, Indiana,] held a special event for a special lady in March.

Mary Poole was the guest of honor, as well as her son – who is due to make his debut into this world in April. Can you guess what kind of event Life Care Center [of The Willows] held for her?

If you guessed baby shower, you are correct!

Robyn Rutar, activities director at Life Care Center of The Willows, planned the event. She is very adamant that the events that take place at Life Care Center of The Willows be fun, different and bring as much of what they experienced while living in their homes here to our facility so that they can enjoy themselves.

“Having a baby is a big deal,” Rutar said, “and many of these women at the party have children of their own, so they have experienced what Mary is experiencing. I made sure that they were involved, too. The ladies made an adorable quilt for Mary. We want Mary to know that we care about her and that we support her.”

During the shower, the ladies played games, had snacks and watched excitedly as Mary opened the gifts that they got for her.

Mary’s son, Levi, is due on April 26, so she has a little over a month to go. Mary is very excited, and the party made her feel so happy.

“I knew that they were planning a party for me, but I didn’t expect it to be this big,” she said. “It makes me feel loved, very loved.”

Life Care author’s note: Levi was born on May 2, 2016, and mother and baby are healthy.
